Obituary of Pauline Carter Bracy

Pauline Carter Bracy, 98 passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 11, 2024 at her home in Mountain Home, Idaho. Pauline was born May 31, 1925 in Wake County, North Carolina to the late Joe Bertie Carter and Rosa Gay Carter. After graduating from Wendell High School in 1942, she then moved to Virginia to help with her sister Winnie’s newborn son. While in Virginia she trained as a telephone operator and worked for the phone company. In Virginia, she met the love of her life, the late Dan Wilson Bracy. They married in September 1944 and later had two sons. After her children were grown, Pauline went to work at Lipton Tea Company in Suffolk and retired from there. Pauline loved her family, her dachshunds and cooking for her family, friends, and neighbors. Her cheddar cheese biscuits were legendary by all who knew her. Pauline loved her Fairview Heights Baptist Church family in Portsmouth and was so grateful to find another church family at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Mountain Home that made her feel just as loved.

Bracy (Peggy) of Oxford, North Carolina; grandchildren: Jason Bracy (Therese), Amanda Shope (Steve), and Jody Kay Bracy; great grandchildren: Hunter Bracy, Autumn Bracy, Samantha Bracy, Cameron McPherson (Sarah), Zachary McPherson (Karen), Paige Woods (Christian), Payten Matuskovic, London Matuskovic, and Heather Abel (Michael) ; great-great grandchildren: Riley McPherson, Remi McPherson, Brooklyn Woods, Scarlett Woods and Jezzalyn Roberson; and her sister Cleo C.
