Obituary of Michael A Woods

Michael Alan Woods

September 3, 1961 – September 21, 2023

Our beloved son, father , grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away in his sleep on the 21st of September 2023 in his home. He was the son of Joy Woods and the late Leon Woods. He grew up in Grace, Idaho and was very active in sports – football, wrestling, and track – where he competed in the Idaho State track competition twice.

After graduating high school, Mike enlisted in the United States Army. After the army, he returned to Mesa, Arizona where he worked in the microchip industry until he became disabled from a back injury. Despite this, he still tried to help friends and do small jobs to help where he could. Mike was often a camp host during the summers in Arizona on the Mogollon Rim.

Mike was raised to hunt and fish by his dad where he grew to love the mountains. As Mike aged and spent a lot of time in the mountains with Chris, his second son. Mike met a friend who owned a gold claim, and he allowed Mike and Chris to work the claim as he taught them about finding gold.

Mike was a member of the LDS church. In his younger years, he was a scout master, which he really enjoyed because he liked kids. In his later years in Hagerman, he played the Santa Claus. With his twinkling, blue eyes and his white, natural beard. I think that he was better than the Coca-Cola Santa Claus. He loved being a part of the community and the people. Mike was loving, strong, artistic, and talented in many things.

Mike is survived by his mother, his brothers and sisters, and his two sons, David Skinner and Christopher Woods.

Michael Alan Woods was laid to rest in the Glenns Ferry Cemetary on 29 September 2023.
