Anita Hoverstock

Obituary of Anita Sue Hoverstock

Anita Sue Hoverstock (Goodwin), 78, passed away with family surrounding her on Sunday, April 16, 2023, in Mountain Home, Idaho. She was born January 16, 1945, in Morrilton, Arkansas, to her parents, RJ and Emogene Goodwin.

She married the love of her life, David Hoverstock in 1966. They resided in Tucson, Arizona for over 38 years. After David’s passing, in 2016, she came to live with her daughter in Mountain Home.

Anita was adopted early in life and always knew she was loved. That display of love carried over to her own kids and grandkids. She loved people and always wanted to be a part of what was going on, we all would say a bit nosey, as people watching was her favorite pastime. Whether it was attending car or train shows with her husband or inviting friends to church, she always went out of her way at welcoming others and saying hello.

She always loved adventure. She loved to travel and always had a suitcase half packed ready to go. Anita found herself living in several states through her life and venturing overseas to Japan and taking a few cruises with friends and family.

Anita attended Bethany Nazarene College, now SNU in Bethany, Oklahoma and was certified in several areas, including shorthand. Anita had many talents and work experience, but her most rewarding occupation was as a mother to her two children.

She was a very kindhearted and giving mother, wife, and grandmother. Anita was the person everyone would meet for the first time, and she would make an instant friend. She had a beautiful smile that sometimes was a sinister smirk showing she was up to something.

Anita is survived by her daughter, Debra Hodgerson (Kevin) of Mountain Home; son Douglas Hoverstock (Terri) of Baltimore, Maryland; three grandchildren, Katrina Barnett (Zac), Devon Hodgerson (Courtney), Kalleen Curran (Logan); five great-children, Remyngton and Kymber Barnett, Emma and Zoey Curran and Boone Hodgerson.

A Memorial Service will be held at the MH Church of the Nazarene, Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at 11:30 AM. Cremation is under the care of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.
