Obituary of Gabor Horvath

Gabor (Garbo) Horvath, long time resident of Grand View, age 85 died of medical complications at St. Luke’s Hospital in Boise, Idaho on October 21, 2022.

Garbo escaped Hungary during the uprising in 1954, while running for his life, his best friend was killed, and Garbo was badly injured. He immigrated to the United States in 1954 and settled in Idaho in 1957. Garbo worked for several farmers in the Grand View area for many years. He was loved by his family, friends, and the community. Garbo enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.

Garbo is survived by his three children: Gwen Maupin of Kempner, Texas, Heath Harper of Copperas Cove, Texas, and Sonja McGarrah of Grove, Oklahoma, his grandchildren and many friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Rimrock Senior Center in Grand View on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at 11:30 A.M. with a program, lunch, and visiting for family and friends. Cremation under the care of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.
