Karen Murphy

Obituary of Karen Lynn Murphy

Karen Lynn Sielaff Murphy, age 75, of Mountain Home, passed away on October 15, 2022, after an extended illness.  A viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, followed be a Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.

Karen was born to Frederick William and Vivian June (Krause) Sielaff in New Braunfels, Texas.  Her father was in the Air Force and the family was lucky enough to travel the world with the military, where they made lifelong friends.  The friendship that stood out was with Kenneth Bailey, who became like a brother.

In 1963, the family arrived at Mountain Home and knew they were home.  Karen was able to reconnect with her childhood best friend from Madrid while in high school in Mountain Home.

In 1983, Karen became the wife of Joseph M. Murphy, and they spent their entire married life in Mountain Home.  She had two daughters, Kendra Skye, and Kassidy Rain, from an earlier marriage.

Karen enjoyed her several pets, traveling, camping, crafting, visiting with friends as the last 4-5 years were difficult due to several hospital stays, but the friendships over the years were so enjoyable for her.  She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church for 63 years, served on El-Wyhee Business Association, and was a Red Hat Society Member, loving every minute of it.

Karen is survived by her husband, Joseph, daughters Kendra Koch and Kassidy (Andres) Gonzalez, grandchildren Araceli Maestas, Jeffery and Rebecca Pentland and her brother, Phillip Sielaff.

Karen is preceded in death by both her parents.

Her deepest wish was to be remembered by her smile, her willingness to help others, and her love of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  He always came first in her life.
