Obituary of Helen Marie Hall

Helen G. Hall, passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, peacefully in her home surrounded by family, friends and loved ones. This was shortly after celebrating her 97th birthday just days before. A celebration of life will be held at her home on Friday, November 25, 2022, for family and friends from 2-4 p.m. Cremation is Under the care of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.

Helen was born to Lola and Jack Graham on September 27, 1925, in Jerome, ID and shortly thereafter the family moved to Scotts Valley, CA where she grew up.

Helen attended University of Pacific in Stockton, CA. where she went on to become an Olympic caliber swimmer and was inducted into the Pacific Hall of Fame. You can still see her picture hanging in the Boardwalk Museum in Santa Cruz, CA. to this day.

While at Pacific, she met and married husband Don Hall. They were blessed with 3 children: Dawn Hall (Dearing), Dan Hall (Karen), and John Hall. They went on to live in various parts of Stockton and La Mirada and eventually retired in their cozy Scotts Valley home where Helen grew up.

Helen had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed life to the fullest, she took up golf and as with everything she pursued, she became very proficient, hitting a total of 11 hole in ones throughout her career. Amazingly, she still managed to enjoy golfing and swimming right up until this past summer.

During Helen and Don’s time, they enjoyed traveling with friends and family. Whether it by land or sea, the two of them made a life of travel and adventure sailing the Pacific and Mediterranean, New Zealand and visiting Alaska. Later with her lady traveling partners she visited the New England States, New York, Washington DC and went on a Baltic Sea Cruise. When it was time to slow down, Helen stopped off at a Superbowl in Dallas, TX before she finally decided to settle in Glenns Ferry, to be closer to her son, family and friends. At 89 she built the home of her dreams overlooking the Snake River. She enjoyed swimming her laps and golfing with a new group of golf buddies. Every afternoon she looked forward to her son and friends stopping by for social hour.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents Jack and Lola Graham, brothers Tom, Bill, and Donny, husband Don, and children Dawn and John. She was truly an amazingly strong woman. Despite the hardships of family and friends passing throughout her life, she lived her life as if every day was her best day right until the end. She was a true example of resiliency and grace.

She is survived by her son Dan (Karen), sister Beverly Forson (Bob), grandchildren: Jacqueline Allumbaugh (Shaun), Kasey Williams (Chase), Korey Hall (Jen) and Krystal Johnson (Jay) and ten great grandchildren. We will all miss her dearly.

In leiu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made in Helen's memory to the Glenns Ferry Library; Box 910 Glenns Ferry, Idaho 83623.

A special thanks to Tracy Reese for her loving care that allowed Helen to be able to stay in her own home. Also, we want to thank Eva Rhueby from Hospice who helped us navigate Helen's end of life care with such love a grace.
