Obituary of Nancy Louise Lowder

Nancy (Nan) Louise Condon Lowder was born January 29, 1936 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Cyril Leslie Condon and Charmain Nuttall. She has one brother, David Geoffery Condon, who lives in Utah. Her father passed away on October 12, 1945 when Nan was nine years old. Charmain remarried Arnold (Arn) Jay Billingsley on December 13, 1947. Both have since deceased. Nan grew up in Provo Utah beside her beautiful Wasatch Front mountains. She worked several roles in her life including telephone operator, nurse, bookstore owner, chinchilla rancher, and owner/operator of Nan’s Floral in Boise and Meridian Idaho.

Nan married Boyd Lawson Lowder on July 22, 1955. They were later sealed in the Idaho Fall Idaho Temple on February 2, 1963. Nan and Boyd were blessed with 10 children in the following order and all with middle names that started with the letter “K”: Randall Kim (Mary) Lowder, Jeffrey Kyle Lowder, Boyd Kerry (Terri) Lowder, Wendy Kay (Troy) Harris, Dane Korey (Nannette) Lowder, Sean Kelly (Candace) Lowder, Melissa Kristine (Bill) Schultz, Jennifer Katherine Van Meer, Erin Kolleen (Lloyd) Davidson, and Tiffanie Kasha (Tyler) Torgeson. She leaves behind 48 grandchildren and 43 great grandchildren.

Nan passed away peacefully on March 30, 2022, surrounded by several members of her family. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Boyd Lawson Lowder in 2017, and her second son, Jeffrey Kyle Lowder in 2012. Viewing will be held at 11:00am, April 9, 2022 at the Rost Funeral Home in Mountain Home, Idaho. Graveside services will be held at noon at the Mountain View Cemetery in Mountain Home, Idaho.

Nan developed several amazing and creative talents in her life, such as tole painting, fresh flower arranging (especially known for her dried/silk flower arrangements), knitting, craft projects, reading voraciously, raising dachshund puppies, and the many photo albums. She loved to collect mementos of her children’s life and then build amazing memory books for them. Nan & Boyd loved to travel and experienced several amazing trips to places like Hawaii and Europe with their kids. We all remember the camping and road trips adventures, packed in various vehicles and a camper (boys sleep outside!). After retirement, they sold the family home and purchased a motor home, traveling throughout the US. She especially loved to be with the snow birds during the winter in Quartzite, Arizona, which when coupled with several books, became her favorite version of camping. During her travels to Louisiana, she loved her son Sean’s cooking, especially red beans & rice and thin cut fried catfish. We will all miss the Sunday roast beef dinners, molasses cookies, confetti-filled cards, extreme holiday preparations, and funny birthday cards. She loved to go to yard sales and loved to shop! We are all glad she will no longer make shipwreck casserole and wheat chili.

Nan loved her kids, grandkids and great-grand kids, proudly displaying family pictures all over her walls. She kept numerous pictures and memorabilia of all her 10 kids, with photos, scrapbooks, and heirlooms that go back 3 – 4 generations. We are extremely blessed that she has held on to these things so that we can continue to pass them on to our posterity. She leaves a lasting legacy and will be greatly missed.
