Walter Taylor, II

Obituary of Walter Lee Taylor, II

Walter Lee Taylor II, age 71, of Mountain Home, Idaho, formerly of Gary, IN, passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2022. No local services have been planned at this time. A future inurnment will be held at the Evergreen Memorial Park to reunite Walter with his wife Rosemary and daughter Felisha at the direction of Guy & Allen Funeral Directors. Cremation is under the care of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.

Walter was born in Little Rock, Arkansas but spent most of his childhood and young adult years in Southside Chicago and Gary, Indiana. He was the oldest of 14 children. He worked hard all his life to help provide for his mother, Laverne Barnes, and eventually his own family. Walter worked in everything from cotton fields, to machine plants, to U.S. Steel. He then met the love of his life at both their ages of 16, and eventually married Rosemary Jackson, who would become Rosemary Taylor. After high school Walter joined the United States Air Force and had an illustrious 21 year career, eventually retiring Honorably as a Master Sergeant. To this union with Rosemary was born, one son, Walter Lee Taylor III (Tay), and one daughter, Felisha Shawnette Taylor (deceased).

Walter had a wonderful personality and had a gift of getting along with everyone he met. He was spirited, friendly, incredibly funny, and was always such a joy to be around. He touched so many lives in and out of his family. His quiet and poised demeanor was a beautiful counter to the more expressive and outgoing personalities of his wife Rosemary and son Tay. He especially had a great love for his family, loved sports, music (particularly jazz), reading, and cooking. Walter was an amazing father, wonderful and dedicated husband, and a proud and loving grandfather. Although Walter's mother has recently passed away, he has left behind a host of brothers and sisters whom he was happy to know he visited before passing. He was always so proud of the countless awards he had achieved in the military and the fact he served his country proud. Walter suffered from a diagnosis of kidney failure and fought through it while enduring kidney dialysis for years. After his eventual kidney transplant, Walter did so much for recovery and fought to maintain his health. Walter unexpectedly lost this battle recently but fought to the end.

Walter Lee Taylor II is survived by his only son, Walter Lee Taylor III (Tay), and Tay's sons, Tajae Michael Taylor, and youngest son Walter Lee Taylor IV (Trey).
