Bill was definitely unique. I shared a lot of good times with him working on a lot of projects around his place to shooting guns. Strong in attitude, but he always meant well. He always looked out for the ones he loved. Of all the things I learned from him the one thing that will always stick with me, is him and stealing and me to always do the right thing. If he saw someone in need he always tried to help, because he said "It was the right thing to do". One of the greatest memories I have spending Christmas with him, Carol Huston, my wife Mellisa, and our girls, and him coming to watch our girls play with their violin concert for Christmas. He was so proud of them. What I'm going to miss the most is how we put things into words, some people might disagree, but I always understood him. We love you, I have who I am because of you. Love always Leonard Owens and family.

I would like to send my heartfelt condolences to SFC (R) William Knox's family, associates, friends and his military family. I met SFC Knox in Richfield prior to my 2010 military retirement during a community event which included the Governor and state officials. It was during this event that SFC Knox told me a few of his life adventures and his military stories, of which, I thought were unbelievable and embellished. He then invited me and another official from the Idaho Army National Guard to his residence. His residence in Richfield was unbelievable and embellished just like his stories. It was a historical museum full of memorabilia, weapons, pictures and large notebooks of newspaper articles documenting the life of SFC (R) Knox. His detailed life keepsakes, souvenirs and newspaper clippings backed up by his big personality and big stories. He was one of a kind and unique. Though he was a self-promoter, he was real and genuine in his loyalty to those who were loyal to him. He was an old-fashioned NCO committed and dedicated to his unit, his Commander and to his subordinates. The values, beliefs and principles learned in the military transcended into his civilian life. He may have been stubborn, hardheaded and tough to get along with at times, and he always wanted to be in control, nevertheless, he never compromised his principles and the bond of military service. He always focused on the chain-of-command and mission accomplishment, no matter what!
